Can you believe it? We are planning to offer 36 different sessions this year. These are some incredibly diverse experiences for our students!
We do our best to add updated information to our calendar included in the newsletter and also found on the COT Website. However, the most up-to-date information will come directly from your club lead. For new club information, please continue to look at the website under Activities / Clubs.
Supervision before and after school:
There is no supervision at COT on campus before or after school.
The only exceptions are the two crosswalks from 7:45 - 8:00 AM and 2:45 - 2:55 PM.
Each main grade level door is open from 7:50 - 8:00 AM. Students arriving after 8:00am should check in at the main entrance to receive a tardy slip and be recorded for attendance. Please be aware there is no supervision before 7:50 AM.
Dumpsters:
I wish I didn’t have to bring this up, but I need to kindly remind everyone that our dumpsters are not for community use. Our staff works hard to keep the campus clean, and when outside items—like furniture or personal trash—are placed in our dumpsters, it leaves us without enough space to dispose of the school’s regular waste.
We truly appreciate your help in keeping our campus looking great. If you happen to see someone misusing the dumpsters, please call security at 720-554-4911.

Last week, our students got a special musical treat when Jam to the Beat came to campus! They introduced students to the exciting world of music through a variety of instruments, fun songs, and lots of interactive activities. The energy was high, the smiles were big, and our Cougars had a wonderful time exploring the joy of making music!

We have sent this information in a previous communication in early August, but we have had several new families who have registered recently. 25-26 Cottonwood Creek Basics will give you information on the most common questions we receive in the office. The link is worth reading as it answers every basic question most families will have during the year.
Attendance
If your student will be late or absent, please call our Attendance Line at 720-554-3295 by 8am. This is required so we can ensure your student is safe and accounted for, and it also helps you avoid receiving automated absence calls. If you call the attendance line later than 8-8:30am you will receive a call from the district. In order to stop these phone calls you will need to call the attendance line.
If you’d also like to let your student’s classroom teacher know, you’re welcome to do so via email—but remember that calling the Attendance Line is the official reporting method.
Communication During School Hours
Cell Phones and Smart Watches:
It is an ongoing expectation at COT and all Creek Elementary Schools that any student personal device or cell phones are to be kept in backpacks during the day. Unless Smart Watches are disabled and NOT a distraction, the same expectation is true for these devices. The ability to take pictures and text during the day on any device is a safety concern and a major distraction for elementary students. Cell Phones and Smart Watches fall under Policy JICJ. Possession of a cellular telephone or other ECD by a student is considered to be a privilege, which may be forfeited by any student who fails to abide by the terms of this policy, or otherwise engages in misuse of the device so as to violate school rules, board policy or law.
Clinic Reminder: Injuries & Activity Restrictions
If your student sustains an injury that requires a brace, cast, crutches, or any other medical device, please notify the clinic and provide any restrictions from their healthcare provider. This helps us ensure your child is safe and that their needs are supported during PE, recess, and throughout the school day. Thank you for keeping us informed so we can partner with you in your child’s care!
Important Health Reminder from the School Nurse
Welcome back, Cottonwood Creek families! Our clinic team—Nurse Mandy andLesli Copp, Health Liaison—is here to support your child’s health and safety throughout the school year.
If your student needs medication at school, please remember that all medications (including over-the-counter) must be dropped offby a parent/guardian directly to the clinic, along with the required medication authorization forms. Students may not carry medication in their backpack unless specifically approved by the nurse.
We also ask that you provideup-to-date immunization records for your student if you haven’t already done so. Keeping these records current helps us ensure a healthy learning environment for all.
If you have questions, need forms, or want to share updates about your student’s health, please call us at720-554-3208. We’re looking forward to a healthy, safe, and successful school year!
