Matthew Pedregon, Music
The music program at Cottonwood Creek follows the Colorado State and Cherry Creek Standards for Music Education. All students at Cottonwood Creek participate in a comprehensive music program that includes singing, dancing, instrument playing, listening and music reading.
Students in grades 3-5 play recorders in music class and participate in the Recorder Karate program. As students demonstrate proficiency, they earn "belt" rankings advancing from white belt to black belt and beyond.
3rd-5th graders may participate in orchestra, and 4th-5th may participate in band. Please visit cceim.org for more information on the district's instrumental program and to register.
"Let music never die in me! Forever let my spirit sing! Wherever emptiness is found, let there be joy and glorious sound." –Joseph Martin
Here at Cottonwood Creek
Elementary the exploration of visual arts and design
processes is about invention, creation, and innovation. Building on the
development of ideas through a process of inquiry, discovery, and research
leads to the creation of works of art, whether using traditional
materials or the latest technologies. Studying art and design at
Cottonwood Creek involves inquiry, posing and solving problems, perseverance,
re-purposing, taking risks, inspiring, and most of all, having fun.
Amanda Jehn, Physical Education
“Physical education is the beginning of the lifelong learning
process in which schools teach children how to live as active,
healthy adults with both active bodies and active minds.” PE4life
A quality Physical Education program incorporates all aspects of movement skills, physical fitness and personal wellness. This includes the five components of physical fitness: muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardio respiratory endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Cottonwood Creek’s Physical Education program encourages every student to benefit and succeed, regardless of his/her ability or experience. We use a skills based approach in to teach locomotor, manipulative and stability skills that will set the students up for success in activities and sports. Students will work cooperatively with others, developing a sense of fair play and sportsmanship. Active participation will in turn promote the students to carry on a healthy lifestyle.
